Hearts under pressure to win League title - Yaw Preko

Posted On Friday, 28th September 2012

Hearts are under pressure to reclaim the Premier League title

By Patrick Akoto

Ex-Ghana international Yaw Preko says Hearts will be under massive pressure to reclaim the Premier League crown.

The Phobians are desperate to win the title this term after playing catch-ups to emerging forces like Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea as well as rivals Kotoko in the past three years.

Hearts have been impressive in the off-season and their fans will hope it will translate into the upcoming season.

But their former winger insists the club will have to pull the chest nut from the blazing fire to realize their dream.

“I’ve not been to their training grounds, I’ve not watched any of their pre-season friendly matches and I so I can’t say much about the squad but the pressure is on them.” Preko told 90 Minutes newspaper

“Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea and Kotoko have won the past 3 seasons and I can’t see Hearts going four years without winning the league.

“The challenge between Hearts and Kotoko fans is that if one wins this year, then next year the other have to win.

“So they are under pressure but I guess they should take it easy, and take it match after match.”

Hearts will open their Premier League account with a tricky tie at Tema Youth on October 7.

It must be a policy by Hearts to be winning their league matches. Win, win, win and nothing else. But they should try and overcome the seemingly daily pressures coming from their numerous fans. Surely, success will crown their effort eventually.

  2. ibrahim says:

That is the hallmark of all great teams like ManU, Barc, RMadrid, Milan, Juve, BayernM and latter-day champ Chelsea – pressure to win the ultimate and not just settle for second best. Therefore the players must get that into their spirits and get it on, the phobia universe is solidly behind them
