Hearts to hold crunch meeting with Laryea Kingston on Monday

Posted On Monday, 10th September 2012

Laryea Kingston will learn his fate at Hearts on Monday

By Patrick Akoto

Hearts Chief Executive Fred Crentsil will hold  showdown talks with Laryea Kingston over his future at the club on Monday.

The future of the 30-year-old has been hugely speculated in the local media after he clashed with head trainer CK Akunnor.

He was sacked from their pre-season camping base at Sekondi for breaking camp rules.

The ex-Ghana star was accused of undermining the authority of coach Akunnor when he refused to adhere to his directive – a move which infuriated the gaffer and resulted in his dismissal from camp.

He drove to the team’s camp in his Four-Wheel Jeep Vehicle, took his own drinking water and mattress – a move which was deemed as  a direct contrast to the rules and regulations laid down by the club.

Mondays’s crunch meeting with the former Vitese Arheim player will go a log way to determine his future at the club.

The club is determined to whip the crack and instill high level discipline in the team and will not allow the egos of some players to get in the way of their grand agenda for next season.

It is widely believed a public apology from the player to the coach, his colleagues and fans will be the only way that will calm tempers and retain him in the team.

I am pessimistic about anything good to come out of this cynical meeting between the club’s CEO and Laryea Kingston. For all along before the time Laryea was signed, he was already tagged as one of the most indisciplined players in Ghana, whereas H of Oaks ignored all the forewarnings and went for him at a huge financial cost to the club. If a club could cough out a whooping sum of one billion (1,000,000,000) old Ghana cedis for a player who is used to the luxuries of comfortable houses and hotels both in Ghana and abroad how would you expect such a player to react if or when such a player is taking to a mosquitoes infested place and there are no places of convenience to ease himself when he feels the urge to attend to nature’s call? Definitely, there would be chaos and confusion like that ensued, I think aspersions should not be cast at Laryea for those actions because in many scenarios people like in the situation of Laryea are most often the ones whom the truth is on their side, and Mr Fred Crentsil should work out the best way to solve this lingering or seeming crisis that is likely to plunge the into further unwanted situations. The players deserve a better camping places for their health and security, and the image of H of Oaks as a club that serves as one of the two guiding stars of Ghanaian football.

The word is “whopping” not “whooping”
