Hearts of Oakââ¬â¢s supporters chief Barima Atuahene has labelled referee J.A Amenya as a ââ¬Ëthiefââ¬â¢ for robbing his side off victory in the Accra derby against Great Olympics.
The Phobians were held to a highly entertaining goalless draw by their cross-town rivals in the Week 14 First Capital Plus League fixture on Sunday.
Both sides thrilled the massive crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium with the exhibition of good football generally leaving the neutrals with a feeling of getting their monies worth.
But Heartsââ¬â¢ National Chapters Committee chairman Barima Atuahene who also represents the supporters on the clubââ¬â¢s board has accused referee Amenya of preventing his side from a deserved win.
ââ¬ÅThis referee is bogus,â⬠a furious Atuahene said at the end of the game.
ââ¬ÅThere was a clear case of a penalty which he [the referee] disallowed.
ââ¬ÅHow can a club spend money to prepare its team, camp and feed the team at a high cost with the hope of attain results only for one man to come and deny us the win?
ââ¬ÅI am the supporters head and therefore I get all pieces of information. I was warned by sections of the supporters that this will happen.
ââ¬ÅI was told by some of the fans that referee Amenya was an Olympics supporter and was talking to officials of the club before the game.
ââ¬ÅBut we failed to act on it and this was confirmed by his shambolic performance on the day.
ââ¬ÅThere was also a red card situation after a brutal tackle on Robin Gnagne. He [referee] ended up only showing a yellow card after screams from the fans.
ââ¬ÅReferee Amenya is a disgrace to refereeing and Ghana football. Authorities must take action towards sanctioning him.
ââ¬ÅHe did the same thing against us last season when we played Liberty and now he has done it again.
ââ¬ÅHe is a thief. Referee Amenya is a thief!ââ¬
It is however unclear whether the club will make Atuaheneââ¬â¢s position official by lodging an official protest to the Ghana FA.
The GFAââ¬â¢s Match Review Panel however has the power to review the match and proffer sanctions if considered necessary.
