Hearts of Oak miss chance to go top

Hearts of Oak squandered a penalty in Accra on Wednesday to draw 0-0 with former champions Aduana Stars and missed an opportunity to go top of the Ghana Premier League table.

The Phobians will rue Mahatma Otoo's missed penalty kick in extra-time of the first half.

Darkeh slalomed through the Aduana defence and was brought down cynically inside the box.

Otoo elected himself to take the spot and his technique to chip over goalkeeper Stephen Adams went high and wide.

In the 54th minute, the Hearts faithful appealed for another penalty when midfielder Isaac Ofori stumbled inside the Aduana box but referee Atikese did not fall for that.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Aduana failed to punish Hearts with the opener.

Godfred Saka's corner-kick was well measured to Emmanuel Allan who was left unmarked at the far side but his header was poor.

Aduana resulted to delay tactics and frustrated the profligate Hearts attackers who failed to unlock the defence of the visitors.

Hearts will be content with the draw but will stay in third place with inferior goal difference but tied on points with leaders Kotoko who lost at New Edubiase.
