Hearts not responsible for 'Super 2' clash failure

Hearts of Oak Chief Executive Fred Crentsil has squashed rumours his club pushed for the cancellation of the pre-season friendly against rivals Asante Kotoko.

The one-off match dubbed "Super 2" which was supposed to have been played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The local media reported on Monday that Hearts' unacceptable demands put off the deal.

But Crentsil says these rumours are not true and that his team is prepared to take on Kotoko at any time.

"We had made travel arrangements by booking our flight to Kumasi to face Kotoko this weekend," he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

"How can we then be making arrangements for the game if we were unprepared to play Kotoko.

"Hearts are ever ready to play Kotoko anywhere and at any time but then the organizers informed us at the last minute of the cancellation.

"And this is beyond Hearts of Oak therefore we can't be made to take responsibility for it."

The two teams thrilled fans in the maiden Super 2 clash last year which was played over two legs in Accra and Kumasi.

Kotoko emerged 4-2 aggregate winners of last year's Super 2 clash which was organized by a non-governmental organization.
