Hearts midfielder Moro Abubakar will undergo a knee surgery on Friday, the club has confirmed.

The 23-year-old has been knocked down by an injury which has kept him out of action since he was axed from the CHAN squad in South Africa last month.

The combative midfielder will go under the knife at the country’s premier hospital, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

"I thank the club for taking care of my welfare. Not many clubs in Ghana can easily do this for their players," he told the club's official newspaper.

"It now depends on the doctors but I hope it will not be long for the surgery to be performed so I can get back onto the pitch to continue to contribute my quota to the success of this team."

The player’s surgery is reported to cost the club US$3,500.
