Hearts of Oak’s management have apologized for the physical and verbal attacks on Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi during their CAF Confederation Cup defeat to AC Djoliba on Saturday.

A few sections of the Hearts fans charged on the GFA capo as he made his way out of the VIP stand after the game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The irate supporters’ have accused the Ghana FA of not handing enough their players national team call ups.

They are also livid at the Premier League Board’s rejection of the club’s late request to have their midweek game against AshantiGold postponed ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup match against Djoliba.

Insults and attempted physical attacks were meted at the GFA President who reportedly rushed quickly to seek refuge in his car for fear of his life.

The police are said to be on the hunt for the Hearts supporters who charged on the GFA boss.

But the club through its Corporate Affairs manager Joe Addo has condemned the conduct of their supporters and offered an unqualified apology to the Ghana FA President.

“On behalf of the Hearts of Oak Management I must apologize to Mr. Nyantakyie for the shameful conduct of the supporters,” he said.

“Their acts cannot be justified in any sense as the GFA have been an arm of immense support for our African campaign.

“The GFA donated $30,000 towards our campaign and are offering support in many other ways.

“So for one to blame Mr. Nyantakyie for anything is simply not right. If they have grievances, there are appropriate channels to route them but not in this shameful and regrettable way.”

Hearts of Oak progressed to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers despite a 1-0 defeat to Djoliba.

The Phobians progress on superior away goal’s rule after the tie ended in a 2-2 draw.
