Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sammy Adjei does not see team-mate Philemon McCarthy as a threat to his quest to reclaim the number one position.
The 31-year-old glovesman has been dislodged from his position by in-form McCarthy.
He was only recalled into first team action after McCarthy suffered an injury during Hearts Premier League defeat at Asante Kotoko three weeks ago.
The experienced goalkeeper came in for heavy criticism after he conceded what many perceived as a ‘cheap’ goal during their 2-0 defeat at New Edubiase last Sunday.
The rivaryl between the two shot-stoppers could be re-ignited with McCarthy expected to return to first team duties after making progress on his broken finger.
But Adjei insists he’s not threatened by the return of his team-mate.
“I have heard many people say that he (McCarthy) is a threat to me, but I don’t see it that way,” Adjei said
“We are both at different level and I respect him for his performances for the team so far.
“I will call it good competition as we have all been called into the local Black Stars together with Ernest Sowah, so I don’t see him as a threat.
“A threat means something that hinders your progress and from what I see, that is not the case so let’s see what happens in the coming weeks,”
