Asante Kotoko’s assistant coach Michael Osei insists the team is not distracted by their game against Hearts of Oak ahead of the start of their Premier League defence.
The Porcupine Warriors travel to face rivals Hearts of Oak in just the second week of the new Premier League season.
Kotoko must however deal with their opening game against Aduana Stars which they will be playing away from their favourite Kumasi grounds as they serve out their home ban imposed at the tail end of last season.
It is however normal for Kotoko fans to have their focus beyond the opening match on September 15 especially when the opponent is against Hearts.
But Osei is adamant his side’s focus is on their immediate next match and not the one after despite admitting the game against the Phobians poses a real threat to their concentration.
“Every team playing Kotoko comes to give off their best,” he said.
“We are taking every game match after match even though playing Hearts is something special.
“But we want to focus on our opening game against Aduana before we shift our attention to our second game against Hearts.”
