Hearts have decided against signing Liberty Professionals defender Alfred Nelson, media reports in Ghana have claimed.

The Ghanaian powerhouse have been linked with the centre-back during the transfer window but his decision to abandon the club in search of new challenge abroad seems to have angered the capital-based side.

Nelson objected to a move to their city rivals and travelled to Egypt for a trial session with top-flight side ENPPI.

But he failed to convince the North African of his qualities, forcing him to restart negotiations with Hearts.

However, the 2000 African champions have decided against signing him as concerns over his fitness grows.

Nelson has not fully recovered from an injury he picked up last season and will require time for the injury to heal completely.
