Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan believes his team was punished for spurning several scoring chances in their defeat to Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The Phobians were handed a painful 1-0 defeat by the Porcupine Warriors before their expectant home fans in Accra.
Hearts lost despite producing most of the game’s brightest chances especially in the first half.
A 30th minute strike by Seidu Bancey was enough to sink the Premier League giants against their arch rivals.
The Phobians were duly punished for missing several glorious opportunities to either take the lead or get back into the game.
The defeat leaves coach David Duncan ruing the numerous wasted opportunities.
”I think the time and tested mantra as far as the game of football is concerned played out this afternoon,” he said at the post match press conference.
“If you don’t take your chances, it comes back to haunt you and that for me that sums up the totality of this afternoon’s game.”
Duncna must now pick up the pieces in motivating his boys to bounce back in their next Premier League game against Inter Allies next Sunday.
