Hearts chase win at Tema Youth in season's opener

Hearts begin their quest to wrestle the Ghana Premier League crown with a dicey game at TemaYouth on Wednesday.

The match was initially scheduled for Sunday but was postponed after Tema Youth contributed four players to the Ghana U20 team which played Morocco in an Africa Youth Championship qualifier at the weekend.

Hearts have gone three seasons without a silverware and are desperate to turn the fortunes around this term.

They must first negotiate a tricky tie against a side that has remained a thorn in their flesh over the past few years.

Tema Youth have an amazing home record against the capital club and will hope to consolidate their impressive performances.

But Hearts look a transformed side after enjoying a terrific pre-season but will be without striker Gilbert Fiamenyo who is nursing a knee injury.

Experienced midfielder Laryea Kingston will also miss the trip to Tema as he continues to serve an indefinite ban for breaking camp rules during the off-season.

But coach CK Akunnor could have new recruits Seth Owusu, Emmanuel Ansong and Richard Addai available for the fixture

Newly appointed captain Mahatma Otoo will be required to drive the team to success this season and the journey to glory begins at the Tema Sports stadium.

Anything short of winning the Premier League crown will be seen as a massive failure for the current crop of players.
