Hearts CEO faces uncertain future

Hearts CEO Fred Crentsil could be axed from the club

By Patrick Akoto

Hearts of Oak Chief Executive Fred Crentsil faces an uncertain future as speculation continues to mount on his future.

The former Sekondi Hasaacas chief has not entirely won the Hearts fans over since his appointment.

The club’s failure to win the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup despite the huge capital injection has set the rumour mill in motion, with reports in the Ghanaian media claiming he has lost favour with a cross section of the supporters.

It’s widely reported that the top hierarchy of the 2000 African Champions is sharply divided on the future of the Hearts chief with others calling for his contract to be terminated.

He has reportedly also lost favour with a cross section of the club’s supporters who believe he lacks the managerial skills to handle the giants.

Local media has also claimed the club’s inability to attract massive sponsorship despite their huge support base has made him unpopular.

Their arch-rivals Kotoko continue to attract huge sponsorship deals from corporate Ghana.

Crentsil expressed his desire to make the former African champions find their feet whilst promising massive transformation but some of their fans are despondent after they ended the season without silverware.

The Chairman and majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV has promised to spend big in the transfer market to bring in quality players to augment their ahead of next season but that has not sound convincing to some of their teeming followers.

  1. Fresher says:

This is the beginning of the end for the club that brags itself as the oldest club in GHANA and proclaims itself as the richest club in GHANA but is so “MIRED” in wishful thinking steps and is so “SUNK” into an illusive sweet dreams to an uncertain future. It is widely understood that this gentleman will be sacrificed someday so that those trends of unprofessionalism will “SO MUCH” continue unabated.

  2. KT says:

I personally think he hasn’t impacted his highly rated diplomatic and business acumen into the running of the club. Perhaps, he doesn’t have the support of the powers that be, probably from the start. I hope the next person does better, because these men have immense success in the business world. He is a soccer person, so I just wonder how and why he seems to have failed. Personally, he is too quiet for my liking.

  3. OTUMFUO says:

@Fresher, good talk without insults. You have expressed yourself well. Well done.
To be frank, the man is not up to the scratch.

  4. BABA says:

Thanks to all of you for a civil chats especially FRESHER, as for KT, he bi shark, he get brain to much.
@Mr Crentsil, this man is really not up to sratch. He has no good program for Hearts, no vision, no new initiatives, no new directions unlike Dr KK who has made kotoko somehow attractive to the cooperate world. At the just ended awards night, he was just eating and drinking while Dr was receiving awards. I think Neil Armstrong can do the work.

  5. Fred Crentsil doesnt have vision or any plan for hearts what he know is buying tired legs players who cant even play 30 minutes during matchs. We need people like Herry and Tommy Okain who is grow up of blood hearts not fred who is pro kotoko fun.

  6. Richie Nel says:

Mark it on the wall. They will go for the same school boys to play next season. They dont realise that the players they have are simply not good. The players are doing their best, but other clubs have stronger tall and huge players, so at the end of the day, they end up loosers. Penalty kicks are part of the game, so learn it too.

  7. FRANCIS OBENG from Kumasi says:

Fellow phobians, i humbly appeal to you all to let close our ranks, stay united and rally solidly behind our darling club. We must stop the blame game and rather pray fervently for God’s guidance to enable us make a very sound recruitment that is capable of winning us laurels and restore Hearts of Oak to its famous glory days. Greetings to you all fellow wonderful phobians. Phoooobia! REAL CONTINENTAL CLUB MASTERS.

  8. Fresher says:

You (Phobians) have said it yourselves for all to know, your words clearly explains why and how Kotoko is superior than H of Oaks in all “SPHERES” of prestige, be it in terms of marketability, viability and desirability. So when some of us make a WELL-FOUNDED punchy and stinging criticisms against H of Oaks, BABA and others should from henceforth see it as a “FREE ADVICE” or a way of telling the Phobians to pick up their acts and CONSULT Kotoko on how to run a club professionally. If I were the one who commented that H of Oaks C.E.O was VIGOROUSLY and EFFICIENTLY eating and drinking AWAY all kinds of food and drinks whilst Kotoko’s CEO was busily sweeping awards at the just ended GLO football awards, BABA would have unabashedly insulted me and use all kinds of unprintable words at me. Now BABA has “UNCONSCIOUSLY” fueled me with more options to be able attack H of oaks even more.

  9. KT says:

Well. Please lets not attack Mr. Crentsil, he is a reputable person, who is very much respected in soccer and business. Let’s just let him know we are not happy with his work. He is an intellectual, and he will understand.

  10. Nii says:

But Togbe too has hugely disappointed us. He should point to a particular high profile player he has acquired for Hearts. We are highly disappointed in him. Is he aware that Kotoko, Chelsea, Aduana and others are taking the best players on the market ? The Oak tree is dying. Let us learn from Real Madrid, Chelsea(England)Mancity and others. Quality players means quality attendance at the stadium.
