Heart of Lions trainer Yusif Abubakar admitted the race for the final Champions League spot has been blown wide open after his side’s 2-1 win at Hearts of Oak.

The gap between the two sides is no just down to two after they recorded the famous win at the Accra sports stadium.

The Kpando-based side overpowered Hearts with strikes from Kwadwo Poku and Prince Acquah after Winful Cobbinah had given the host the lead.

Lions coach Yusif Abubakar says the win over their opponent is ‘as good as it gets’.

'The performance from the first minute to the last was very strong in every department,” he told reporters.

“The players were phenomenal in their tactical awareness, work-rate and discipline.

“We have to keep working hard because there are six more games to play.

“The possibility of Champions League football is a real possibility and we have to work towards that.”

Lions will host struggling Aduana Stars in their fixture hoping to keep their momentum in the initiative for a place at Africa’s elite inter-club competition next season.
