Harrison Afful's Ghana return suffers setback

Harrison Afful's return to the Ghana team has suffered a setback after injury ruled him out of this month friendly against Chile, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 24-year-old Esperance ace picked up a knee problem on his right leg during a pre-season friendly against second-tier side from Switzerland.

He has already spent one week in the treatment room and needs two weeks to regain his full fitness.

Afful  was conspicuously left out of Ghana's 2012 Africa Cup despite scoring the only goal which won last year's Caf Champions League for his Tunisian outfit.

Coach Goran Stevanovic-if still in-charge of the Black Stars-will assess the former Asante Kotoko defender for the first time as the Serbian continues his search for a permanent left-back.

''I'm not so worried because opportunities will definitely come my way if I'm playing well," Afful told GHANAsoccernet.com

Afful has not played for the Black Stars in a friendly against South Africa back in August 2010.
