Harrison Afful missed out on a fourth straight CAF Champions League final after Esperance were eliminated by Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Afful earned a starting role as Esperance came back to draw 1-1 with the South African side in the return leg at the Rades Stadium.
With the first leg ending 0-0, the scoring draw meant the Tunisian giants got eliminated on the away goals rule.
Mahamutsa had opened the scoring for the visitors in the 52nd minute but Msakni equalized in the 54th minute.
Three minutes later Afful was replaced by Ahmed Akaichi but Esperance could not get the match winner.
The draw was enough for Bucs, who progressed on the away goals rule and will face either Coton Sport or Al Ahly in the two-legged final next month.
