Esperance defender Harrison Afful is delighted to be making a return to the senior national team.

The 25-year-old has not been involved with the Black Stars for some time now despite helping the Tunisian giants to last year’s Caf Champions League title.

He was dropped from the squad that placed fourth in the 2012 Nations Cup earlier this year – a decision which proved unpopular to numerous Ghanaian fans.

The former Asante Kotoko left-back has however hailed the decision by new coach Kwasi Appiah to hand him a recall to join 29 others for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia in June.

“I am very happy because I have been waiting so long for this call up and at long last God has been so good,” he said.

“Being called up again, I’m going to do my maximum best and be in the team.”

Afful made his Ghana debut during the 2008 Nations Cup hosted on home soil when he came on as a substitute against Ivory Coast in the third-place playoff.
