Asamoah Gyan in goal celebration at 2010 World Cup
By Ameenu Shardow
Striker Asamoah Gyan is looking to help Ghana win massively in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi.
The Black Stars must record a resounding result in the first leg of the ultimate qualifier to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
This will ensure the second leg game away will be a mere formality in seeing the Black Stars pick up one of 15 slots for the finals to be hosted in South African early next year.
And Asamoah who will be making his competitive return after an almost six-month break from the side recognizes the need to rake in the goals.
“It’s [Malawi game] one of the important games we have this year. I think people are expecting us to win and we will give Ghanaians what they want at the Accra Sports Stadium,” Gyan said.
“We need to be scoring more goals in the first leg and see in Malawi. I learnt they are every good team.
“I haven’t seen them playing and I believe in the Black Stars.
“I feel comfortable with them and we can play any team at all. Definitely we will carry the day.”
Ghana will engage Liberia in a friendly game in Monrovia three days after the first leg tie before travelling for the second leg encounter.
Great! Just remember not to take penalties. Welcome back Baby Jet!
Ghanian players always talking before they deliver.Don’t promise a victory before it is achieved .You did the same against Zambia and u had to put a blame on an innocent referee
Walasa wesu kwati ni Mboya
leave them say every thing they wanna say and think about your country,,the team they will be facing…..and leave ghanaians alone because any time a player from ghana say something about his team the family of luapula fish…a person who has named him self a fish will say something bad about ghanaians rather than thinking of their next match.you should be wise enough to pray for your team to win matches you are rather talkin about fish stuffs here pls if you dont have anything good to say just read your news and get lost….!!
Anyway, Asamoah Gyan did play the second match against Zambia?
Is malawi the twin sister of zambia? Why is that they keep on referring to the Ghana-zambia match like Zambia is the only underdog team to ever beat gr8.. for the records saudia arabia, country in which malawians ll not even consider as a football nation once thrash black stars by five goals to one!!! Burundi which was war-torn beat Ghana and even deny us qualification into the world cup,Kenya once beat the black stars at home,Sierra Leone has also beaten Ghana before, liberia, togo and even Benin has once beaten Ghana before so am so surprised these Malawians think zambia is the only underdog team to has beaten Ghana.. i keep on saying that if ghanaian fans as well as players, technical team, mgt etc keep out this revenge and bitterness against Zambia out, they will come and surprised us in Ghana too because a revengeful mind just as an anger mind, makes the mind narrower! If we approach the Zambian game as normal and just like any other game, that ll be the key to dismantle and annihilate them.. when we were about to play them in zambia, the Zambians knew they ll beat us and i also knew very well they ll,because Ghana as at that time bas still not recovered from our shock loss in the afcon and they took advantage of that… do i see the same situation happening in Ghana after our defeat to them again? Time ll tell… though Zambia beat ghana,Zambia and malawi are different… did i hear Malawians saying they are coming for a win? Ridiculous cuz after picking four or five goals in accra, they ll know that monkeys play by size, and that though upset do happens sometimes history always follows a trend and repeats itself!!! We will show them that they are high school team!!
slowly zambia is becoming a giant in world football. This can even be seen through Mayuka’s move to the EPL the best league in the world. Mayuka has joined Southampton and is expected to make his debut against Man Utd on sunday. Expect more Zambians to grace the EPL in the next two years i expect 4 or more to go there because Zambia has at least 3-4 world class players that can play in the EPL.
Yes we will win. But without you Gyan. You will start from bench. Or is your little Arab club better than Juventus (Boakye) or Marseille (Jordan)? Times are a-changing. Black Stars are not dependend on you anymore.
It will b very interesting 2 see how the Ghanians play against the flames.
Zambia is becoming which giant in world football!!! Didn’t u guys said that your entire team ll be playing in prestigious team after afcon? What happened then?? The likes katango, mayuka, chansa etc are average players an no wonder most people has no fear for them and even your coach admits that when he said that u are not the best in Africa though u are Africa champions!! Africa has alot of katongos, kalabas etc who are simply average players and am still looking forward to see them feature in those big leagues zambians made us to believe! No wonder Zambia is an underdog team purely from their reactions and character and that’s how underdogs behaved.. moreover their style of play also truly confirmed their underdog status, counter-attacking football!! Packed the bus and catch the opponent unaware!! The day they ll meet a team with a visionary player maker ll be their disastrous end!! Remember Ghana – Brazil in Germany( 0-3)? Since Ghana was the underdogs,we packed the bus hoping to catch Brazil but since Brazil has wonderful playermakers,( dino,ze roberto, kaka etc) their torn our defence into pieces making precise deep lying passes from infield!! Though i known ghanaians celebrate mediocre,i didn’t know there are some Africans who makes ghana’s own a child play and are the real fathers of celebrating mediocrity!!
@ selfmade my brother you are misinformed it takes time for a good side to send its players to the big leagues in europe. A number of our players will move again in january. A lot of bids were rejected by some of their respective clubs. But i can 100 percent say is Kalaba annd Sunzu will be in europe in january after the conclusion of the caf champions league. Mayuka’s move to england is and indication that Zambia is a serious team in africa and Mayuka may well be the next african star after drogba left England. I hope he is ready to face united and instead of insulting zambia why not support each other after all we supported you in 2010 where is your hatred coming from? is it because zambia has been beating you recently. Anyhow ghanians are my brothers.
O Lord give me a break…you have ONE player who claims to be 21(highly doubt it) and you guys are running your mouths. Ol’ boy hasn’t even played an EPL match yet. AND on top of that he is on a less than mediocre team called southhampton, which will most likely be relegated right back to the championship division. You guys are too funny, just look at the Ghanaian squad for Malawi, nothing but top European clubs. You guys won ONE afcon and you guys cannot just put a SOCK in it can you guys? I actually rooted for you guys to beat Ivory Coast but you guys have really shown that you do not know how to be winners. Slowly becoming a football giant my ass. you get one move to a mediocre European team and your a giant. PULEEZ!!
I think matches re won by tactics n passion. BS had none of dat in Ndola. lets nt engage in a battle of wars wid our zambian brothers. I ve onserved dat dis SADC guys ve mouth. its one of their attributes. They re very egoistic. Even malawians alias Nyansaland who ve no footballing history can brag more than us. i read on supersport hw they belittled Zambia wen they won dat friendly match. its in their blood.
No matter how low the Black stars have sunk, the flames an never ever beat us at home.we will wallop them into submission.

You can play a passing game but Chipolopolo play a direct and counter attacking game .Lets face the truth you cannot call yourselves giants when basing on ancient glory. The older .BS team were giants coz they won cups though the competition only featured few teams .In my lifetime I have never seen a giant .BS team coz they have won nothing in the last 30yrs.I have no reason to insult but I have correct information to shoot down wrong arguments using decent language .
we ve GH players in Porto, Juventus, Olympiakos, Anderlecht, Galatasaray, Braga, Dynamo Kiev and Celtic.
Really? Who then?
Goal harvest on Zambia, we have dismantle them next year so they shut mouths
God Bless!!
Jaja, i dnt waste tym on pple who dnt follow GH football. Every detail u want can be found on the INTERNET. U can jst google “ghanaian players abroad” n u can feed ur brain wid all the info u want. Meanwhile, congrats 2 mayuka-the 1st zambian 2 play in epl. CHEERS!
Yvonne, the first Zambian player to feature for an EPL team was Collins Mbesuma at Ports mouth. We also have players in Holland,Belgium,Russia,Germany and Israel including Portugal. The difference with you is that we dont plead for unpatriotic players to come play for mother Zambia eg moses sichone and Andrew Sinkala who both play in germany league
guys i just came across malawi dot worldcupblog dot org . we can learn more about malawi there. their captain will not play.
Yvonne my sister..The first Zambian to play in the Epl was Fred Mwila who was signed on by Aston Villa after he scored against them when was playing in US together with the likes of real Pele and Kaiser Mauntang the famous owner of Kaiser Chiefs of South Africa. Data shud not be distorted coz u will win off the field
Thanx for the correction bro
@selfmade your analysis leaves much 2 be desired i wonda how u wud rate italy then because they dnt have the Brazilian flair.let me give u a practical example arsenal are the most exiting english preimer league side n they wonthe league a long tym ago if we compre the style of play or egypt ,cameroun against ghana and nigeria who are mo exciting???Ghana n Nigeria definitely bt hav had more success???? Cameroon n Egypt answer it bout efficiency.so if u lyk u came tel yo players to continue passing themslves and the ghana histroy into oblivion why zambia we get the cheque in recognisiom remember history wil never remamber who came second or had mo possession bt whenevr sum1 asks who won africa cup in 2012 answer will b zambia, jst lyk every1 will have 2 go back all….! the way 2 82 for the last ghana victory with all there entartaning football.
@ john.. no wonder ghanaians looking down upon your afcon achievements and keeps on saying u won the cup accidentally and by pure luck!!! mayuka is going to be what?? African superstar where? No wonder prestigious agents don’t scout in southern Africa countries cuz they know u simply don’t have the quality to excel in big time leagues!! Just one average player is signed by a mid-table team in England and u here blowing your horn that u going to be giant!! You funny man and besides u said comes January more zambian players will be signed up by big teams and i guess those teams are in south Africa league, congo league,Vietnam, china and Sudan cuz no serious premiership team ll sign kalaba, katongo, chamanga etc who are very average players and very old too!!! I quiet remember Senegalese were boasting that their entire quarter finals team at the world cup ll be signed by big teams in Europe and what happened afterwards!!! I guessed u know the answer already!!! Ghana, Nigeria ,cameroon, ivory coast has being producing better quality players from time immemorial and have big time players in quality European leagues and We hardly boast like u zambians who your coach has tagged u amateurs!! I think u ll be the shortest champions in the world cuz by next yr u ll be relegated to the lower bottom which has always being your position !!
Egypt doesn’t hv so-called european stars but they hv won the AFCON a record time n in modern times not wen some of us were only a year old…this reminds me don’t 4get to watch Zamalek vs Berekum on saturday cos someone is surely going to cry.
@ John… zambians were always saying ghanaian players are nothing but bench farmers in their clubs and not knowing u were saying all these because of jealousy and envy!!! Zambia just like Malawi are called less endowed countries in terms of football!!! Quality football are scarce resources in these countries hence just one old average player is signed by another less endowed mid- table team makes every zambian happy and beat their chest that they gonna be giants someday!!! So now u admitted and accept the fact that Zambia is not football giant yet and i think is going to take u more a century to become one cuz u think the size of Ghana alone as a giant has taken all the space already and imagine there are other giants too together with Ghana so i guess there are no space again!!! It takes alot of hardwork to become a giant.. u need to have highly refined and quality footballers to become a giant and i think Zambia is less endowed… katongo’s,mayukas, kalabas are too local and not international materials and they is no argument about this cuz looking at where they play their trade can let an independent observer knows the kind of players they are… i can bit my last coin that even in the mid-table club that he has signed for,he is going to be a regular benchwarmer till they go back to relegation!!! Is not every African country which can produce players to excel in Europe and Zambia is one of them,Egypt too cuz zaki went to the epl and no wonder his coach said he is one of the worst professional player he has worked!!! We are watching with eagle eyes!!!
We are still coming to humble you 1-0 wth yo so-called european stars…you are our great customers and just the mention of your name is like music to our ears, ghaaana!
Your best player is Probably Kwado Asamoha who has recently moved to Juventus . Is very excellent at moving the ball and doing some defensive duties .But let’s honestly compare him to the ‘Master ‘ Kalaba ,is an attacking player who can go past any defence with a lightening speed for reference you can ask John Boye (yo best defender).
I m appealing to my fellow Zambians who are always posting on this site, please, your shallowness is shaming us! Stop it! Zambians are known to be humble and polite, but this is not what you are exhibiting here! Your postings are rude, crude, shallow and negative in every sense. As a Zambian, I m am ashamed to be associated with you. Our football site is down, but let us respect the Ghanaians to express themselves on their own forum whithout you poking you short noses.
mwatusebanya sana pafula. Talema, Zilemekezeni.
inshallahu gyan go and do better for your country may god accepts your prayer amen
In football anything can happen.Stop playing mind games pliz!Ok u Ghanians hv won in mind but not reality.Malawi alwys do better when they face the so called African giants. Nowadays football is becoming to SADC not western africa.Malawi gooo!!!! Flames imadodadada
