Al Ain striker Asamoah Gyan says he want the club to win the UAE Pro League than him becoming the top scorer.

The Ghanaian returned to the top of the goalscoring chart on Friday with a brace that helped his side beat Bani Yas 3-0 and kept their nine point lead at the top of the Pro League table intact.

Gyan, who has 15 goals in the bag now, one more than Jazira’s Ricardo Oliveira, later declared:

"I feel settled here and I am really happy with my performance for the team. It’s 15 goals now and it makes me very happy. If there is a chance to score then I will score, why not?

I am here to score goals, but at the end of the day it’s all about the team winning for me.

Gyan earned a yellow card in the match for short bust up with Bani Yas’ Mohammed Jaber who was also cautioned for his role in the incident.

He added: "It’s part of the game you can be nervous and sometimes people become frustrated, but we apologised to each other later and it’s Okay now."

Gyan’s strike partner Yasser Al Qahtani provided the assist which helped him score his first last night.

He said his relationship with the Saudi striker was one of the reasons for his own and Al Ain’s success.

"Yasser is a good player and everything is really good between us. We have a good friendship and do things on the field for each other.

Anytime he has the ball, he knows exactly where I am and it’s working well for us and the club," the 26-year-old said.

"During the week the coach spoke with us and told us what he wants from us and we did just that. Everyone is happy now."
