Gyan celebrates his opener with his team-mates

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan scored twice for ten-man Al Ain who opened their title defence with a humiliating 6-3 defeat to Al Ahli Dubai in the  UAE Pro League on Sunday.

The former Udinese man scored in the 12th and 75th minutes as his side crashed to defeat in the opening weekend of the season.

The Black Stars striker opened the scoring for Cosmin Ol?roiu in the 12th minute but Brazilian forward Grafite equalised for the visitors six minutes later.

French international Jires Kembo-Ekoko steered a header home to restore Ain’s lead six minutes before the break.

But Ben Saeed and Grafite scored thrice after the break to put Al Ahli 4-2 ahead.

Gyan registered his double when he converted from the spot in the 75th minute but Al Ahli registered two more goals through Grafite and Andre Jimenez.

The former Sunderland striker won the goal king crown last season after netting 22 times from 18 games.

I hope this is his last season in UAE.
If Gyan is really serious about playing in Brazil 2014, becoming an African legend, becoming an internationally recognzied superstar… then he needs to get his ass out of the Arab desert and compete again in a topleague!

today WAS THE FIRST TIME IVE ACTUALLY WATCHED A SAUDI LEAGUE GAME. ITS FUNNY. THEY RARELY PLAY IN THE MIDFIELD. THE BALL IS KICKED FROM DEFENCE TO STRIKERS TO SCORE. IF IT GETS INTERCEPTED BY THE OPPOSING TEAM, THEY ALSO KICK THE BALL STRAIGHT TO THEIR STRIKERS….AS A RESULT, THERE R TOO MANY SHOTS ON GOAL N THE R TOO MANY CORNER KICKS. THE DEFENDERS ARE EASILY EXHAUSTED N WHOEVER HAS MORE STAMINA OR CAPA CAN SCORE EASILY.

I WATCH AL AIN VS AL AHLY TOAY. A PLAYER THE CALIBRE OF GRAPHITE FROM AL AIN IS WHAT I HOPE WE CAN GET IN A STRIKER. THEY GUY IS SUPER CONFIDENT N KNOWS WHERE TO POSITION HIMSELF ON THE FIELD TO SCORE. THE AL AIN DEFENDER DEM SHAA PASS KORLE UNDERNEATH..BOTTOMLESS PIT SHAA. OH LORD. SIKA NTI,LOOK AT THE TEAM GYAN IS BEING MADE TO PLAY FOR. GYAN’S FIRST GOLA WAS CLEVER, BUT THE PENALTY WAS BOGUS. THE REF GAVE HIM A BREAK ON THAT CALL. GYAN SHOULD TAKE MY ADVICE. HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE GYM AND HIT THE WEIGHTS LIKE A MAD MAN. I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY GH PLAYERS DONT LIKE TO LIFT METAL AND ADD SOME STRENGTH. ITS VERY IMPORTANT.

I watched the Al Ain game a couple of times. The style of play is completely mediocre. THEY RUN EVERYWHERE and very little intelligent passes. I’m afraid Gyan migh loose his striking instincts or his striking anticipatory runs because sometimes you can see that he is wide open but before they try to pass the ball to him ,it is too late. They have very little vision or passing game and just like to run and kick! I was full ashamed watching Gyan play with this minnows at such level. But at the end of the day he chose it and he gets some goals.

aluguntugui league. coach aa should go n coach there. he will be successful. u dont need to have a technique or strategy to play OR COACH IN THAT LEAGUE. ALUGUNTUGUI SAUDI LEAGUE OOO, TOM!…BUT THE AL AHLI STRIKER GRAPHITE IS NICE. I DEY FEEL AM BRUTAL. THE REF WAS TRYING TO CHEAT GIVE AL AIN, BUT GRAPHITE…HW333333333, WAT A STRIKER!

WOW personally I am still in shock by what took place in that game. Although I do see both of your ptoins, you have to give credit to Suarez who saved the World Cup for his team and country. The man knew it was the last play of the game and made an unbelievably brilliant play. In all honesty Ghana should have slammed the door shut by making the penalty, but the shockingly missed it and they have no one but Mr. Gyan to blame for that. Also, what was the deal with their two missed penalties? It seriously looked like those guys were trying to pass the ball in unexceptable in that situation.Agreed though that they should look at giving the referee discretion to award a goal in a situation like that where the player clearly blocked a certain goal.

  6. Benjamin Carboo says:

Massa, the guy is playing in kelewele league n scoring kelewele goals. The future is still bright only if…..
