Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says his teammates were responsible for his record breaking feat this season at Al Ain.

The 27-year-old extending his own record of most goals scored in a single campaign by scoring over the weekend in the 2-1 win over Al Nasr to sign off another memorable season in the UAE.

Gyan scored 31 goals this term, two more than the previous record held by Alboury Lah, the Senegalese striker, who amassed 29 goals for Al Wahda in 1998/99.

This was after netting 22 goals in his maiden Pro-League campaign to convince Al Ain officials to turn his loan spell at the club permanent from English Premier League club; Sunderland.

And though basking in personal glory with his second successive Goal King feat, the Black Stars captain reserved praise for his teammates at Al Ain.

"Personally I did so well," Gyan said.

"It's a great achievement in my career, as winning the top scorer in the league for two years is not easy.

“I scored 31 goals but I didn't do this alone. The players really helped me and I'd like to thank them all.”

Gyan adds he thrives most in the style of play adopted by the Boss under manager Cosmin Olariou.

"The type of tactics we play suits me. We're a very technical team where everybody plays for each other and that's why we've done so well."

The former Udinese and Stade Rennes hitman will now be joining up with his national team for crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.
