Asamoah Gyan was moving freely in Tuesday's training session
By Ameenu Shardow
Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has been given the all-clear to feature against Mali despite sustaining a cut on the foot.
The Black Stars captain seems t0 have picked the injury in the 2-2 draw with DR Congo in the opening Group B game at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations last Sunday.
Gyan missed Monday’s training session at the Neslon Mandela University pitch but coach Akwasi Appiah revealed his absence was due to a minor knock.
Team doctor Baba Adamu has now reassured the Al Ain hitman is fit to start against Mali haven completed full scale training with the side on Tuesday.
“He (Asamoah Gyan) is being contained, he played fully today,” Dr Adamu said at the media briefing on Tuesday.
“There is a cut on his foot but he played today fully, didn’t he?”
Gyan’s availability serves as a massive relief to the Ghana team which has been hit with injuries to key players in vital positions.
Influential midfielder Anthony Annan is still battling his way through an ankle strain while striker Richmond Boakye –Yiadom has been ruled out of the Mali game with a similar injury.
Absolutely stupid to go into a tournament of such huge magnitude with only 3 strikers. He AA got the basic essentials of his job wrong right from the word go. Questionable selection(overlooking some good active players in favour of average semi active players),his failure to motivate his players to get the best out of them, his bias in his treatment of players, and the unbalance nature of the composition of his final 23 players(just to name a few). Majority of the people wanted an indigenous coach but to me AA wasn’t the one. He lacks the technical acumen to handle a team like the Black Stars. I want the best for my country but sometimes we need to call a Spade a spade.
Hope others will be objective enough to understand your stance. I second you totally. I give my support to the contingent there and pray they make us proud but our coach got it wrong. Jordan was on fire and should have been there. Dede could hv been pardoned in the nations interest. Our lead striker is not as fast as he used to be so we always needed a solid backup. Hope the usual P.R gimmick will not be employed this time.
Locals coaches are way forward.. We had so many foreign coaches and they fail us. Let’s give AA the support he need.No fears my friends because Mali is going to fall to Ghana..
so when mali beats us, what are u gona do? my friend,” access”, …sometimes we must admit it is good to remain positive; but ask yourself—–are these the best materials ghana has? to me, this coach doesn’t even cut it…to be the assistant coach of black stars! ..and it is only a matter of time that everyone will understand that he is TOTALLY clueless. Do you know how many months AA has had the team and still can’t make certain basic decisions? the guy lacks a coaching acumen….u watch….after mali beats us…..! he just has to be fired! why wud u neglect quincy….dede…jordan…..akwasi asare…even a half fit john mensah is better than akaminko! u claim u wanted injury free players —what happened to boakye yiadom now, even rabiu or…who else….vorsah? u took kissi boateng, awal, wakaso…who can all play natural left back..great! then u choose to make ur playmaker a defender….meanwhile, u have dropped ur only playmaker (andre)—-is that stupidity, idiocy or both? this coach simply doesnt cut it! this fool forgets that at juventus, asamoah plays that role but isnt their playmaker…cos even with asamoah in the team, juve still has a playmaker! so now this silly coach wants asamoah to combine what…playmaking and defence…n attack? did u see how there was no connectivity between attack and midfield? akwasi appiah simply sucks…and either nyantakyi gives this guy a boot or we miss the world cup and come lynch both of them!
so folks, tell me…..ur defender comes forward…twice…and creates and scores 2 goals! will u still play him there? wow, then thats an awesome defender! so now, who is the playmaker of the team? and by the way, why take kissi boateng at all to the tournament if u already know u could play asamoah, awal or even wakaso there?
…and hey, mr silly coach, u see that we advised u, that 3 strikers wont be enough! only a coach with no clue or a coach who wants defenders to score will take 3 strikers to a tournament! is clottey better than jordan? is RBY better than quincy?…and so many more! for now, i pity those who have hopes in this team. i prefer to not have any hopes and i get surprised, than for my hopes to be dashed!
and mark my words—-if these guys win any thing, don’t give akwasi appiah any credit people, cos the boys did it due to self/national pride….and the will to win….not cos of this kumasi coach!
enough said!
u see u hav only 3 strikers n yiadom is out,nw u hav 2 yet u stil wana play kwadwo asamoah as left bck..plls coach shine yor eye

DONT START GYAN. LET HIM OBSERVE LIKE GEDDO. BRING GYAN FROM THE BENCH TO USE HIS EXPERIENCE TO FEND OFF MALIAN DEFENDERS. GIVE THE CAPTAIN TO BADU.
Miss another glaring chance and u wud see
The act of gaysm is affectin gyan

Yes,you’re perfectly right,i don’t know why coach Appiah is acting such way, have he been paid to make Ghana lose the tournament;the worst thing he did was dropping Dede Ayew from the squad this was a big mistake if Ghana lose i won’t blame Gyan but Appiah.
Forum folks….”mo 3nto mu nna”! Akwasi Appiah has no clue and Nyantakyi or Max know it! It will be a miracle for us to beat Mali…when u have no playmaker…cos ur only playmaker has been shifted to defence since u are copying blindly or have no clue! I guess akwasi appiah is feeling the heat now…cos definitely he’s become a laughing stock to either some black stars players or certain foreighn coaches in africa!
i was surprised when akwasi appiah remarked during the interview after the draw that “a good player can play anywhere”. Really? …seriously? Mr coach, pleae come again. Tr playing Lionel messi at the left side of Barca, and let Dani alves go and strike! or play yaya toure in the heart of defence! Damn coach! a good player can play anywhere…yes, u are right, BUT will u get the best out of them? CLUELESS COACH!
Silas Tetteh is far better.. Even at U20, his management of the team was excellent..
Maka so after writing this book you still feel asamoah Os still our playmaker? C’mon he is only effective when running from the wings
AND WHO THE FUCK SAID WE ARE VOUCHING FOR THE FITNESS OF THE MOST USELESS PLAYER IN OUR FIRST MATCH?
