The family of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan have thanked all Ghanaians for their support during the burial of the late Mrs. Mrs. Cecelia Gyan Baffour-Mensah.

The 60-year-old was laid to rest last weekend in her hometown of Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region.

Several personalities in politics, academia, sports, the media, friends and sympathizers thronged the Gbawe residence of the deceased for the three-day event.

The Gyan family in an issued statement have shared their appreciation for all who supported in diverse ways in ensuring their departed loved one had a befitting sending off.

“The Gyan Baffour-Mensah Family acknowledges with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, kindness, support and thoughtful gestures shown to us during the time of bereavement and the funeral rites of the late Mrs. Cecelia Gyan Baffour-Mensah,” the statement read.

“Words cannot express how much we thank Ghanaians for the sympathy and help they exhibited during our moment of sorrow.

“We are truly grateful to Ghanaians.”

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan had also tweeted earlier: “I appreciate everyone that supported me and my family during this tough time. Thank you Ghana. #RIPmum."
