Captain Asamoah Gyan eyes double win for Ghana

Captain Asamoah Gyan says only a win is on his mind as he arrives to join the Ghana camp for the opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars captain arrived in the country on Saturday evening from Malawi where he was invited to take part in the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, Protect the Goal.

Gyan returns with the aim of leading the Black Stars to victory in this month’s games against Uganda and Togo following a disappointing campaign at the 2014 World Cup where Ghana failed to make it past the group stage.

The Black Stars will be hosting Uganda in the opening 2015 AFCON qualifier on Saturday in Kumasi with a huge expectation of a massive win from the ever demanding Ghanaian fans.

The Al Ain ace accepts this weight of expectations and says he is only focused on helping the Black Stars deliver the desired result for the nation.

“It is not going to be easy, we are facing a top side, Uganda is a top side despite we being ahead of them statistically,” he told ASAmoahgyan3.com upon arrival.

“But we’ll make sure we approach the game with winning on our mind. We have to make sure we don’t do anything apart from winning.

“We have to make sure we win to make everybody happy in the country.

“I think everyone knows the task ahead of each other and we are planning to get the result.”

Gyan is also determined to lead the Black Stars secure win in the games against Uganda and Togo to atone for the massive disappointment of the World Cup in Brazil.

“We need to make sure we make everybody happy,” he added.

“It is a very important thing. We have to wait for all the players to come to Ghana so we can have a couple of meetings and now how we approach the game.”

The Black Stars captain moved straight to his residence in Accra and will be joining the Black Stars camp when the team converges on Monday evening.

The team is scheduled to arrive in Kumasi on Tuesday morning to begin with their training sessions ahead of the Saturday’s game against Uganda at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
