Greuther Fürth manager Frank Kramer has passed a massive vote of confidence in defender Baba Abdul Rahman, saying he rested the Ghanaian during their 2-0 win at Bochum to ââ¬Ëprotectââ¬â¢ him ahead of his potential involvement at this yearââ¬â¢s World Cup.
Thomas Pledl took the place of the 19-year-old during the Bundesliga 11 clash at the Rewirpower Stadion on Monday.
Krammer gave the Ghanaian, who has become an important piece at the club, Ã a breather by resting him for the game.
He has revealed however that he opted to leave him out of the game to ââ¬Ëprotectââ¬â¢ him ahead of his potential call-up into the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.
ââ¬ÅI wanted to protect him (Baba Rahman). He has hope of going to the World Cup with Ghana,â⬠he said
ââ¬ÅHe is a fine player who should be in Brazil. When he gets that chance, I believe he will explode.
ââ¬ÅBut of course such matters are left with their national team coach. He will have to decide that.ââ¬
Rahman has insisted he can still squeeze into Ghanaââ¬â¢s 2014 World Cup squad following his outstanding displays for German outfit Greuther Furth.
Regarded as one of the brightest talent to have emerged from the African country, Rahman has become an important piece for the Germany second-tier side over the past two seasons.
Many have tipped the Ghana Under-20 star to make the final squad as he is seen as the ideal man to solve the unremitting left-back role in the team.
