EXCLUSIVE: Great Olympics partnership with OMP on the verge of collapse

Published on: 28 October 2014

Great Olympics partnership with Global Media Village Group is hanging on a thread after the club threatened to pull out of the deal, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The Wonder Club have been incensed by the refusal of their partners to pay the wages of their players due to the delay in the start of the Ghana Premier League.

Global Village Media Group, owners of Metro TV and OMP feel it’s unwise to pay players when they have not kicked a ball following the delay in the start of the Ghanaian top-flight due to a legal tussle.

The top brass of the capital-based side have been angered by the stance of their partners and are considering pulling out of the deal, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

Olympics feel their partners have reneged on their obligations to the club which could force them to terminate the contract with Global Village Media Group.

Global Village Media Group acquired 40% stake in the club in August this year for a fee believed to be around GH¢400,000.

They offered a training ground, administrative offices, two branded new Hyundai i10 salon cars for the coach and administrative staff and a 32 seater branded bus for the club.

OMP are acting as the exclusive marketing agency for the club and syndicate for sponsorship packages for the club as well as run TV Promotion of their matches, sms competitions and produce a weekly show on Metro TV codenamed 'Oly TV'.
