Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has declared Ghana’s participation at next year’s World Cup ahead of the crunch qualifier against Zambia.
The Black Stars are in pole position as they lead the Chipolopolo by a point going into the final round of matches early next month.
Ghana only needs a draw in their final group game against Zambia on September 6 in Kumasi.
But the Sports Minister is extremely confident of a Black Stars win against their recent bogey opponents and subsequent wins for Ghana in order to make a third successive appearance at the World Cup.
“The Black Stars currently leads the Group and therefore cannot relinquish their one-point lead on the silver platter,” the Minister said at the Ghana FA’s Ordinary Congress session on Wednesday.
“Some are saying we just need a point to qualify. Well, every qualification is qualification but government is fulfilling its end of the bargain to ensure we win this game and the ones beyound.
“We are going to Brazil and not even Zambia can stop us.”
Ghana have suffered back-to-back defeats against Zambia – first on their way to their first ever Nations Cup glory and then in the first leg qualifier for the World Cup in Brazil where both matches ended in 1-0 wins for the Chipolopolo.
