Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene believes God has ordained Zambia to qualify to the 2014 World Cup ahead of Ghana.

The Chipolopolo will face the Black Stars on September 6 in Kumasi in the final group game of the qualifiers.

Zambia are currently trailing Ghana in Group D by just a point – meaning they will have to beat the Black Stars before their home fans to prgress to the final phase of qualification.

Many deem a win for Zambia in Kumasi as highly unlikely especially with most of the Black Stars players determined to dish out a resounding defeat to Zambia as pay back for the misery the Chipolopolo have inflicted on Ghanaians in recent meetings.

Zambia handed a painful 1-0 defeat to Ghana in the semi final match of the 2012 Nations Cup with Mweene playing a key role by saving an Asamoah Gyan spot kick on their way to their first ever continental success.

They again beat the Black Stars at their own backyard by the same scoreline earlier on the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Many Ghanaians thus see the September 6 clash as a fine opportunity to avenge these painful defeats.

But Zambia’s first choice goalkeeper Mweene who is in Ghana on pre-season tour with his club Sundowns say the will of God clearly is in favour of the Chipolopolo qualifying ahead of Ghana.

“God’s time is the best and for us sometimes our wish is not God’s wish and therefore when your time comes no one can hold you,” he said.

“We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and many can see God has his light on us.

“We mean business and I think this Ghana game will be decided in September when we come here.”
