Fatawu Dauda has retained his no.1 position for Ghana
By Ameenu Shardow
Fatawu Dauda seems to have displaced Adam Kwarasey as Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper.
The 27-year-old has been retained by coach Akwasi Appiah for Ghana’s second group game against Mali at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Dauda has been impressive since joining the Black Stars team – not conceding even a single goal until the 2-2 draw with DR Cong last Sunday.
His assured performances in goal has earned him a regular place in Ghana’s starting line up at the Nations Cup in South Africa.
The AshantiGold player has now succeeded in pushing regular Adam Kwarasey who has struggled for consistency to the Ghana bench.
Dauda will start again for Ghana in the Thursday’s crucial game against Mali – signifying the confidence reposed in him by the Black Stars technical team.
Ghana starting line-up: Fatau Dauda, John Pantsil, Harrison Afful, Isaac Vorsah, John Boye, Rabiu Mohammed, Albert Adomah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Kwadwo Asamoah, Asamoah Gyan, Mubarak Wakaso.
Good luck Dauda. AA should be aware of his technicalities. You don’t dump the spirit of your regular for trivial mistakes during trials. Anyway, Ghana must not retain any coach who is not certain on how to deal with his charges in cases such as Adam Kwarasey’s. I believe the whole country is behind the team and its technical handlers but AA has already failed in handling the egos of the playing body. He failed in handling Dede’s issue and has woefully failed on Adam Kwarasey’s inconsistencies. Good luck to the team.
What is wrong with starting Fatau Dauda??? he is equally good, and did very well in the first match.
@Tanko: That is a stupid assertioon and claim to begin with, Adam warasey is very jittery. Dede pretended too important and without him nothing happens. Ghana is bigger any player.
I shall comment after the 90 minutes.
now am convience beyoung any reasonable dopt d@ appiah is a very confuse coach how can u start dauda oooh my goodness i think he just hate de ayew brothers nd now to kwarasey……..we will see about d@….appiah is a total failure.
@texas: Nothing is wrong with Dawuda however, something is wrong with AA! Why was Kwarasey dropped in the first place is the question. No coach should drop his charge in-consistency and replaced them with the said charge’s second fiddle and maintained the second fiddle in a tournament. That is exactly what AA did! In so doing, you are killing the other charge’s moral and it is the coach’s duty to maintain the morals of each and everyone of his charges. AA has failed even if he wins the tournament, because one of his charges has their moral dumped. Anyone of the players came to camp with high moral and must not leave otherwise.
