Goalkeeper Dauda, Asante handed debut starts against Liberia

Berekum Chelsea winger Solomon Asante will start against Liberia on Tuesday

In-form Ashantigold goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda and exciting winger Solomon Asante have been handed their first Ghana starts for Tuesday’s friendly against Liberia.

Head coach Kwesi Appiah opted to leave the experienced Andre Ayew on the bench as he seeks to continue his assessement of players ahead of the return fixture of 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi next month.

The two-home based players will be anxious to seize the moment and impress the Ghana boss during Tuesday’s game against the Lone Star at the the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.

Asante, who plays for Berekum Chelsea was a second half substitute during the first leg tie against The Flames at the Accra Sports stadium over the weekend.

Turkey-based Jerry Akaminko replaces Isaac Vorsah and will partner John Boye at the heart of defence while Samuel Inkoom returns to the starting X1.

The match is being organized to foster the cordial relationship that exists between the two West African countries and also mark the country’s Independence anniversary.

The match will kick off at 1600 GMT (4pm local time)

Starting line-up: Fatau Dauda, Samuel Inkoom, Razak Nuhu, John Boye, Jerry Akaminko, Anthony Annan, Solomon Asante, Derek Boateng, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Christian Atsu.

Subs: Ernest Sowah, Rashid Sumaila, Isaac Coffie, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Abdul Majeed Waris, Richmond Boakye Yiadom.
