Give Black Stars to Desailly- Rev Osei Kofi

Ghana legend Rev. Osei Kofi wants ex-France captain Marcel Desailly to be handed the Black Stars coaching job.

Desailly has emerged as the leading contender to replace Serb Goran Stevanovic who was sacked two weeks ago.

The former Chelsea player has remained tight-lipped on whether he wants the job but there are indications he is the heir apparent.

Kofi, joint top scorer in the 1965 Nations Cup finals, says Desailly fits the bill to be named Ghana’s next coach.

''For me if my advice is sought on who should be given the Black Stars job I will prefer it to be given to Desailly because he can help us a lot," he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

"He has chalked successes with the France national team and to some extent Chelsea in England."

The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak player has likened the 1998 World Cup winner to Franz Beckenbauer and Jurgen Klinsmann who without coaching experiences succeeded with the Germany national team.

''People are saying he has no experience, experience in what?'' he queried

''Beckenbauer had no certificate when the national team was given to me which people objected but the Government intervened and asked the FA to issue him one.

If that was the prerequisite to be able to get the job and he delivered when the job was given to him so this issue of he has no experience should be put somewhere.

''Let me ask, which of the FA members has gone through a football administration course to get the experience to manage our football.

"Ghanaians should be truthful to ourselves and i think we don't have time on our side and so Desailly is the best person to manage affairs,'' he added.
