Gideon Baah is yet to sign contract extension at Kotoko

By Patrick Akoto

Gideon Baah has moved quickly to clarify his situation at Asante Kotoko by declaring his commitment to the club.

The future of the 20-year-old left-full back has been hugely speculated in the local media after his agent denied reports her client had signed a two- year contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2014.

The former Sporting Mirren Captain wants an improved offer from the club before he commits his long-term future to the Premier League Champions.

He says his loyalty to the club cannot be questioned and clarified the position of his client.

“My client just moved in to clarify the situation that I have not signed any contract extension at the club,” Baah told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“She has been getting calls for some clubs in Europe that I had signed contract extension at Kotoko and that meant I will be unable to play for any of them,”

“In as much as the club’s official website had not put out that information, it testified that the rumours were untrue,”

“That’s why she came out to set the record straight by putting it out on the website. Since then I have been receiving countless phone calls from people who say my agent has vowed never to allow me to play for Kotoko,”

“People didn’t get her right. I am still negotiating with the club. She loves me to play for Kotoko. Apart from Kotoko’s immense favour to me, Kotoko has also doen her a big favour as an agent,”

“That is why I didn’t hesistate to talk publicly on the matter because we need to clear the air. I owe Kotoko and that is a fact,”

“I have not repaid them enough. I am wiling to play for them. Even KK Sarpong’s greatest wish is to see me play outside Ghana,”

“I don’t see why people will say I am ungrateful. KK Sarpong is willing to let every player go when they get contracts abroad,”

“People must just understand that in this world people must progress.”

Baah joined Kotoko three seasons ago and played his part in the club’s Premier League feat last term.
