With only four striking slots available in the Black Stars ahead of the Nations Cup, GHANAsoccernet.com looks briefly at the probables ahead of a naming of  provisional 25-man squad on ThursdayÂ
Asamoah Gyan (Al Ain)
With a footballing CV that any player would be proud of, the former Sunderland man is a born striker.
The 27-year-old has established himself as a top player for both club and country.
His passion, energy and work rate cannot be flawed as the West African giants will rely on his potency upfront to deliver the goals at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
The Ghana captain is yet to translate his free-scoring form at the international level since he returned from his self-imposed exile, but he remains the country’s main source of goals.
Abdul Majeed Waris (Spartak Moscow)
Waris scored 25 goals in all competitions for Hacken, prompting the Russian giants to come calling.
The Right to Dream Academy product is yet to spark at the international stage, but there are many who believe he could prove the catalyst for the Ghanaians at the Nations Cup in South Africa.
Jordan Ayew (Marseille)
The 20-year-old put up a decent display at the 20102 edition of the Nations Cup and will be relied upon to partner Asamoah Gyan upfront.
He has churned out impressive performances for the French giants this season and hopefully will translate his goal scoring form at the international stage.
Dominic Adiyiah (Arsenal Kyiv)
The 22-year-old has flattered to deceive after he burst onto the international stage three years ago.
Adiyiah has struggled to assert himself since he joined Ukrainian side Arsenal Kyiv but could be drafted into the team due to his experience in the Black Stars.
Richmond Boakye-Yiadom (Sassuolo)
The on-loan Juventus striker marked his first senior appearance in style by grabbing the equalizer in the Black Stars 1-1 draw with China in an international friendly in August.
His consistent goal scoring prowess  is one that the country will require to land the hugely sought after trophy.
Emmanuel Clottey (Esperance)
The former Wacker Innsbruck striker has hit the ground running where he has already scored once for Tunisian heavyweights Esperance.
Clottey’s pace, skills, lethal strikes and goal scoring abilities have contributed to making him a powerful goal scoring brand and one of the high profile strikers on the continent.
He will surely fight his way into the final squad expected to be released on Thursday.
Who do you think will make the cut for the AFCON 2013.
