Widespread reports in the country claim Ghanaââ¬â¢s Sport minister Mahama Ayariga has been reassigned to a new ministry but sources close to the government official say he is still at post.
Ayariga, who is currently on a state visit to Saudi Arabia, was reported by the local media to have been reassigned to another portfolio with suspicion high that he has been touched by an impending reshuffle.
However, GHAHAsoccernet.com sources close to the minister says he is unaware of the report to remove him as he would have been the first person to be informed by government.
Though the presidency is yet to officially confirm the report, rumours are rife that heââ¬â¢s being reassigned to the Environment Science and Technology in a major ministerial reshuffle expected to hit the country in the coming days.
The Member of Parliament for Bawku courted controversy last week when he branded questions being asked by journalists pertaining to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations budget as ââ¬Ëuselessââ¬â¢.
Earlier, Mr Ayariga had told Parliament that Ghana spent close to $6million on the tournament.
According to him, Government spent $4.774, 519.19 million dollars and Ghc3.242,580 million Ghana cedis which adds up to $5.8 million.
He is currently in Saudi Arabia holding discussions with his Royal Highnessà Prince Abdullah Bin Mossad Bin Abdulaziz on ways to develop sports in the two countries.
