Ghana's opponents Niger alter plan for AFCON departure

Niger will fly out to South Africa on Sunday ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations two days than earlier planned.

“The team will now leave for South Africa on Sunday immediately after the match against Togo the day before. This was after it was decided they will leave on January 8,” said Niger official Mohamed Sani.

Niger will fly out via Benin or Burkina Faso as there is no direct flight from Niamey.

As a result of this arrangement, Niger will present a team of home-based players for a January 11 friendly in Togo.

The Mena are also scheduled to take on Burkina Faso in Rustenburg, South Africa, on January 10 in continuation of their build-up for their second AFCON finals appearance.

Niger are in Group D in Port Elizabeth with Ghana, Mali and DR Congo.
