Former Ghana U20 striker Kwame Amponsah-Karikari heralded a strong performance for Balikesirspor who shockingly defeated Trabzonspor 3-1 in the Turkish Cup on Tuesday evening.

The Super Lig side were highly tipped to override the Lig 1 side but Karikari inspired them with a world-class strike in the 5th minute and set up another goal as they reached the fifth round of the competition before home fans at the Bal?kesir Atatürk Stadyumu.

The AIK Solna loanee applied a lovely control at the edge of the area before surging into the ball with a measure of his striking technique before applying a clinical finishing stint from inside of the box.

After Bal?kesirspor had gone 2-0 ahead, Austrian striker Mark Janko cut the deficit for the Trabzonspor but the host scored again to seal their place in the next round of the competition.

Karikari joined Bal?kesirspor from AIK before the start of the season and has played a crucial role in their campaign, scoring eight times in all competitions.
