Ghana's First Lady salutes Black Maidens

Black Maidens celebrating the goal against Japan

Ghana’s First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has sent a congratulatory message to the Black Maidens at their exploits at the 2012 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals. 

She has praised the players and technical handlers for becoming the African country to reach the semi-finals in the history of the tournament.
Ghana beat Japan 1-0 on Friday night in the quarter-final clash played in Baku.
“By reaching this stage in the competition the Black Maidens have demonstrated their courage, discipline, tenacity and will to succeed and have through that inspired many young Ghanaians, both female and male, with your performance,” a statement read.
The Black Maidens will play France next Tuesday in the semi-final.
