Ethiopia lost 2-1 to Nigeria in a pre-CHAN friendly.

Ghana’s CHAN Group opponents Ethiopia lost 2-1 to Nigeria in a warm-up played on Saturday in Abuja.

It was a convincing outing by the local Super Eagles against a near full international team of Ethiopia bar a handful of their overseas-based stars.

The defence held out with Azubuike Egwuekwe and Kunle Odunlami outstanding, while in midfield Ugonna Uzochukwu was solid in defensive midfield.

Battling Enyimba striker Ifeanyi Ede worked hard up front and he will put the home team ahead after eight minutes, the result of some great team play.

Uzochukwu doubled the Eagles advantage in the 26th minute, when he jumped high for a long ball and stylishly tapped home.

Nigeria controlled the first half, but Ethiopia fought back after the interval and deserved their goal 10 minutes from time when Omed Okwuri smashed past skipper and goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim.
