John Boye will miss the Black Stars crucial 2012 Africa Cup Nations qualifier against Sudan early next month because of injury.
The Ghana defender has been ruled out of action for three weeks after he suffered a thigh problem on Sunday.
Boye was taken off while playing for French side Rennes in their match against St. Etienne
The injury is similar to what he suffered last week in their league game against Sochaux last week.
He has been told he needs three weeks on the sidelines to be able to recover which means he will not be available for the game in Khartoum on 8 October.
“The injury has nothing to do with the injury he suffered against Sochaux. He should be absent for three weeks,” Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti said.
Boye is seen as a comfortable replacement for injury-prone Ghana captain John Mensah and was expected to be named in the team to face Sudan.
He will also not be available for the friendly against Nigeria in London on 11 October.

Boye out, Jonathan Mensah out, John Mensah is on walkers; so who is going to defend against the Sudanese?
With weakened defense, our midfield and attack must be tip-top shape, and we must not squander scoring chances that come our way.
John Mensha, vorsah, pantsil, badu.hoping to see wakaso, abeyie, jordan etc.
Daniel Addo is doing great things, not too late to take a look at him. Nana Asare is our best LB now, not too late to take a look at him too.
