Manchester United and close rivals Liverpool look set to lock horns this summer for the services of Ghana and Olympic Marseille star Andre Ayew according to the Daily Mirror.

Ayew has showcased his talents at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil bagging goals against both Germany and the USA and was by far his countries stand out performer.

This has brought attention from both premier league clubs with United in the process of a rebuild and Liverpool looking to add to their squad to assault the champions league (and ease the departure of Luis Suarez) Ayew certainly fits the bill for both teams.

Newcastle United have been linked to the player in the past but their interest has since cooled.

At 24 years of age Ayew’s best is certainly stil to come with 179 appearances 49 goals and 16 assists to his name for Marseille and 51 caps and 6 goals for Ghana now may be a good time to cash in on their flying winger who only has one year remaining on his current deal.

Ayew has made his desire to play in England public in the past few weeks stating that if the reds (Liverpool) came calling it would be impossible to turn them down.

The promise of Champions League football could give Liverpool the edge in the race for his signature but Louis Van Gaal is known for his persuasive powers and likes to get what he wants its going to be a very exciting transfer window for all fans concerned and the 16th of August can not come quick enough!
