Ghana winger Albert Adomah pressed his case for an automatic place in the Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup with an amazing strike for his ninth goal of the season in the English second tier on Sunday.

The Ghana international scored the opening goal for Middlesbrough in their smooth 3-0 win over ten-man Reading in the English Championship.

The 26-year-old netted his 9th goal of the season with a classy finish from just outside of the box to claim what would go down to be one of the best goals of the season.

Emmanuel Ledesma laid down a headed pass for team-mate Juke who returned the ball for Adomah to ram home a fierce low drive to the bottom right corner of the net.

Aitor Karanka's team were ahead from the 13th minutes with a gem of a goal created by Ledesma's angled cross beyond the far post.

Lukas Jutkiewicz nodded it down perfectly for Adomah who was on the move as he lashed a first-time volley inside the far post.

If he continues his performance before May, it would be difficult for coach Kwesi Appiah to ignore him for the World Cup in June.
