Niger finalised their preparations for the AFCON with a goalless draw with South African club Platinum Stars in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.

The Mena, who are drawn in Group D, rested their top stars like skipper Moussa Maazou, Issoufou Alhassane ‘Dante’ and Mohamed Chikoto.

Le Mans youngster Amadou Moutari aka Kalala was outstanding for the West Africans, while Nigerian-born central defender Lucky James also featured.

Kalala broke his leg against co-hosts Gabon at last year's tournament.

South Africa-based goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly was also rested to allow second choice Saminou Rabo to man the posts for Niger.

Niger fell to both Morocco and Ethiopia as well as beat Togo 3-1 in their build-up for the Nations Cup in South Africa.

They also drew 0-0 with Burkina Faso in another test game played in Nelspruit, South Africa.

Niger begin their Nations Cup campaign on Sunday against fellow West Africans Mali in Port Elizabeth.
