Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says Ghanaians should not be overly concerned by his lack of regular games at Orlando Pirates with barely two months to the start of the 2014 World Cup.

The 28-year-old made only his third appearance for the Bucs in their 1-0 home defeat to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday.

Many have called for Dauda to be dropped from the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup due to his extensive bench warming duties at the South African giants.

The critics argue that his lack of regular games has taken its toll on his performance due to his lost sharpness.

But the former AshantiGold shot-stopper believes he is rather improving despite his frustrated spell at Pirates and that Ghanaians should not worry too much.

“Ghanaians shouldn’t be overly worried that I am not playing,” he told Metro FM.

“I can tell you that though I am not playing regularly, I am improving with the training regimen I have.

“I believe in the long run, it will help my career as the the performance before has improved.”

Dauda has been Ghana’s first choice goalkeeper since breaking into the side at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

He played all the games for the Black Stars during the successful qualifying campaign to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
