Southern-select side will represent Ghana in the championship
Ghana will be making its seco0nd successive appearance at the Airtel Rising Stars Inter-Country Championship.
A Team from the Soutern select side will be representing the nation after winning the national championships at the continental level which will have teams from Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, DR Congo, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia all in contention.
This year’s event being hosted in Nairobi, Kenya between the 20th – 25th August will see technical expertise being provided by Airtel’s territorial partners; Manchester United and Arsenal.
The English giants will be conducting soccer clinics to herald the finals which will be broadcasted live on on satellite through Airtel’s partnership with DSTV on August 25.
Airtel Rising Stars is an annual, multi-country grassroots soccer initiative that offers young boys and girls aged U-17 the opportunity to play, compete and showcase their talent to selectors in their respective countries.
This year’s championship will be officially opened by Kenya’s Prime Minister, Raila Odinga and will be graced by Ambassadors representing the other 14 nations that will participate in the extravaganza where 500 rising stars will be on show.
Last year saw six Ghanaian youngsters join their counterparts from other countries where Airtel operates partake in a soccer clinic in South Africa.
