Ghanaians to watch out for in Uefa Champions League tonight

Posted On Wednesday, 23rd November 2011

Andre and Jordan Ayew

Four Ghanaian players are expected in action for their clubs on Wednesday night in the penultimate Group games of the Uefa Champions League.

Kevin-Prince Boateng’s AC Milan have progressed to the knock out stage and will be in action against champions Barcelona in the night’s top liner.

Below is a preview of tonight’s Uefa Champions League games involving Ghanaian players.

MARSEILLE VS OLYMPIAKOS

There is a lot of Ghanaian interest in Group F in particular because of two Ghana internationals.

At the Stade Velodrome, Didier Deschamps could name young attacker Jordan Ayew upfront as he seeks to complete a double victory over the Greek giants.

The 20-year-old has featured in Marseille games more than any other player apart from Jeremy Morel who has also played 14 games same as Jordan.

Andre, his senior brother and Marseille’s linchpin, is expected to be the catalyst for tonight’s game.

Prediction: Marseille 2-0 Olympiakos

ARSENAL VS BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong looks likely to continue his spell outside the first 18 once more.

The 19-year-old hard-tackling dozy midfielder trained with the first team but its unlikely whether he will make Arsene Wenger’s cut for the bench.

If he is lucky, he will watched the action a bit closer; that is from the dug-out.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

AC MILAN VS BARCELONA

This game will obviously stretch beyond its supposed relevance because it will be a battle for supremacy in Group H.

Bate Borisov and Viktoria Plzen could not match the classy and quality presented by these two Europe’s greats. Neither of the side have been able to establish a commanding authority over the other in their past three meetings in Milan.

The Rossoneri have one victory on home turf while Barcelona defeated them 1-0 in the 2006/07 season. Massimilano Allegri will welcome back his enforcer Kevin-Prince Boateng into midfield.

The last time they played at the San Siro in the competition, it was the 24-year-old who sealed the victory with a cracking effort from 35 yards.

The former German youth international will try to thrill Ghanaians with yet another inspirational cameo in midfield against masters of the orchestra in this business.

Prediction: AC Milan 1-0 Barcelona.

Please, could you STOP bringing us news on AC Milan and the Kevin Prince Hitler. He is German. I don’t see why you are giving us news on a German enforcer. It has no relevance to the BLACK STARS

i agree there is no point in bringing news on kvp.

I think it is the job of this net to report every event that concerns Ghana,Boateng himself has declared he can’t play for Ghana therefore quits international football. This means that as far as it is about football K.P Boateng has nothing to do with Ghanaian football. Now the question is why always trying to involve him?I think only players who are proud of their Ghanaian nationality and are ready to represent Ghana should be called Ghanaian players.

    Baca will beat milan

  7. Hohoho! says:

Since Emmanuel Frimpong applied to FIFA to play for Ghana, Arsene Wenger has not selected him for any game. I Think this is a deliberate attempt to destroy the guy because Wenger tried to convince him to play for England and he refused. That man is wicked! Frimpong had a lot of playing time before Ghana announced that he had signed the papers to allow him play for Ghana.

  8. askantwi says:

Absolutely. We are watching with keen interest. that Wenga man is very wicket and a criminal. Alex Ferguson would have done the same thing to Welbeck. This is very bad and Fifa should take notice about this. Frimpong’s agent should start looking elswhere for his player before it is too late.

I cant enjoy my football with these thoughts in my headNana Akuffo Addo was invited by david cameron a month after Atta Mills refuted the gay rights instructed by him at the expense of Aid just a year to the election
Akuffo Addo is known for his all die be die statement which I guess he david cameron will be aware of.
Wikileaks regarded Akuffo Addo as a drug dealer and a terrible womaniser of which he david cameron only has to spend hours on the internet to know
The British embassy in Ghana is an eye for the British. They will have a file on him. All he(david) needs to do is ask for
    the file
Before Akuffo Addo walked through the door he knows everything about him including how twisted he is
My Worry that hasn’t seem to be Ghana’s worry.
1)why did david cameron invite an opposition party?
    2) After Akuffo Addo returned, the meeting and the subject discussed in the meeting is been kept confidential
    3) Ghana has now got oil making it very much of an attractive place for the white predators
THIS IS A THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURIT

  10. PRIME says:
