Ghanaian youngster Derrick Appiah signed a two-and-a-half year contract with French Ligue 2 side AS Monaco on transfer deadline day, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.
The 18-year-old midfielder clinched the deal an hour before the January transfer window closed on Thursday midnight in Europe.
Appiah can take a leaf out of Michael Essien’s career who began playing for Bastia before moving on to Lyon and then Chelsea.
“France will be a good place for him to develop himself. There are a lot of Africans in this country and that should make him feel at home,” Appiah’s agent Oliver Arthur told MTNFootball.com
Appiah played for Amidaus Professionals in the Ghana second-tier league before their promotion to the Premier League last year.
Monaco are second on the French Ligue 2 table after 22 rounds of matches are in polo position to qualify to the Ligue 1 next season.
Good job Oliver, more Ghananain palayers are signing for good europeans sides.
You are doing a yeoman’s job by giving a future to these young boys but tell them to persevere to reach the top like Essien,Stephen Appiah and co.
Good news. the french league will surely help him to come to Black Stars!! COME IN FRANCE GH
