Ghanaian international forward William Owusu Acheampong has gruesomely revealed that he and his team-mates do not receive any salaries at Belgian side FC Antwerp.

Owusu, 25, joined Antwerp - second-tier side, from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon and has notched 11 goals in 29 league games.

However for all his efforts, the player has revealed he does not get paid as his club is currently going through financial difficulties.

“Everyone knows the unstable financial situation of the club. They signed heavy contracts with us but we were not paid. The club did her best and as a player you try to understand the situation. But if you have a family and there is no money coming in, it gets difficult” Owusu told gv.be

“It is very worrying especially when you will pay for certain things. Some teammates even got the landlord throwing their things on the floor becaus the rent was not paid on time and some also received threats that they would end up on the street”

Owusu was linked with American side LA Galaxy last season but he opted to stay with Antwerp to help their promotion campaign.
