Ghanaian striker Mohamed Anas says he was delighted with his impact at Maritzburg United after being overlooked by Kaizer Chiefs.
The 20-year-old had a trial at Chiefs last was not handed a deal and he went on to sign for United.
His six goals and three assists in 17 Premier Soccer League matches have made him a talking point.
Anas is satisfied with his impressive start in the South Africa top-flight.
"I was playing for the Golden Boys academy back home in Accra as a youngster. Then I went to Swaziland, and while playing there, Doc Khumalo [Chiefs assistant coach], saw me playing, and he invited me for trials. But I was not able to get a contract there, and later when the chance came to join Maritzburg, I was very happy to go," the told Maritzburg’s official website.
"Yes, so far it has gone well and I’m happy overall. But I still need to work hard to reach my goals, and I plan to do this together with my team-mates.
“I have been warmly welcomed by the management, technical team, and players, and my family and I are really enjoying ourselves in this city."
