Ghanaian striker Elvis Manu has made a quicker-than-expected return from surgery for Dutch side Feyenoord and he is in line to play in Thursday's match against Italian giants AS Roma in the Europa League.
The Dutch youth international, who is seeking to make a nationality switch to play for Ghana - the country of his parents, has made a speedy recovery and he is expected to play the match in at Rotterdam.
The powerful attackers underwent surgery last month and was expected to be out of action for eight weeks which means he was expected to return to action next month. But the speedy and heavily built attacker has been declared fit three weeks ahead of his scheduled return and ready to face the Romans.
“I have been back sooner than expected. The medical staff had promised me that I would be out for at least six weeks to eight weeks after my surgery in January. But I am back in five weeks,†Manu told AD.
“I was very happy with it. It is like liberation for me. The rhythm is gone and the weather is just finding strongholds. But all returns. Hopefully, Thursday against AS Roma I will play.â€
Feyenoord drew 1-1 with Roma in Italy and the return of Manu will be crucial for coach Fred Rutten as he eyes a Europa League quarter-finals.
