Ghanaian striker Derek Asamoah has extended his stay at English side Carlisle United until 5 February following a successful first two months at Brunton Park.

Asamoah, 33, scored five goals in his first six games for the Cumbrians, and has made a total of 12 appearances.

He has impressed manager Keith Curle enough to earn a further extension.

"We've all seen what he can add to the mix. He's fast and he will chase everything and we want to see more of that," Curle told the club website.

The ex-Shrewsbury player joined the Cumbrians on an initial one-month loan following Curle's appointment as manager in September.

In addition to stints with Northampton, Mansfield, Chester, Lincoln and Shrewsbury, Asamoah has played for Nice in France, Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia and Pohang Steelers and Daegu FC of South Korea.
